We first heard implausible rumors of a combination of an auto museum and an ice cream parlor early last December, but we could see something was up from peeking in.
An image in a 3/22/09 inDECATUR post shows Relics & Rarities (on McDonough across from Decatur High, in what was an automotive repair shop) was shooting for a March opening.
It's finally opening at noon today.
inDECATUR will add some photos later today.
In the meantime, Next Stop ... Decatur already has some, and Decatur Metro should have soon (update: it's there now), as the editors of those Decatur blogs attended the "Wine and Wheels" opening party last evening.
Here's an online gallery.
There are two museums: one with vehicles and wall displays, and the other a fifties style ice cream parlor. Admission is two bucks, UNLESS you buy an ice cream, in which case it's free.
Decatur's tradition of ecclectic places continues.
