The local Decatur blogs were first out with news of the fire yesterday morning. The papers are catching up.
In a comment at Decatur Metro, one of the owners of the 5th Earl vows to bring it back, better than ever.
There was apparently some kind of gathering of Trackside people at the Corner Pub last night. [This blogger is currently out of town, and thus was not there.] Ali Laipple has a photo album on Facebook. Doc Al, the owner, and many of the employees and regulars were there.
Locals will recall the Corner Pub burned at it's old location further west on East College roughly four years ago. The community came to the aid of the employees. However, Trackside will re-emerge, either at it's current location or a new one, but this blogger has not heard Doc Al's plans. If the old CP location is any indication, it could be years before these two locations are restored, for whatever purpose.
Trackside has a group page on Facebook, where you can post comments and submits photos and videos which will help us remember it in future years.
UPDATE: Just got word the "Soup-er Bowl" soup cookoff scheduled for the Trackside this Sunday will be held at the Corner Pub, down E. College at East Decatur Station (just east of ACE Hardware) and west of the MARTA pedestrian overpass. Presumably, the time will be the same: Entries 3PM, Judging 4PM.
