The mini-museum of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has an other-world oddity known as a monkey from Mars. In a glass cylinder are the remains of a monkey three pranksters passed off as an alien.
Two young barbers and a butcher took a dead monkey in 1953, lopped off its tail, removed its hair and added green coloring to the carcass. Then they left the primate on an isolated road north of Atlanta in the pre-dawn hours of July 8, 1953, burning a circle into the pavement with a blowtorch before a police officer came around the curve in his patrol car.

Spencer, an Oakhurst character who can best be envisioned by those who remember the character "Angel" on the old TV show "The Rockford Files" (starring James Garner - see images in continuation); often tells of he and some friends painting some poor animal silver, wrapping some aluminum foil around it, and putting it in an Oakhurst tree, then calling the police, but in all probability he's just "leveraging" off this hoax.
__________
Spencer doesn't look like Angel, but he acts very much like him.
