SEPTEMBER 28 FRIDAY
Most people first saw FONZWORTH BENTLEY [born in Atlanta] in an oft-reprinted photo as a manservant holding an umbrella for Sean "Diddy" Combs. It was a surreal and silly way to get attention, but the Morehouse College graduate has improbably managed to extend his fame to TV and film appearances, a planned major-label album, and now a self-help book, Advance Your Swagger, that's designed to bring out your inner metrosexual. He appears tonight at Wordsmiths Books in Decatur. Free. 7:30 p.m. 141 E. Trinity Place, Decatur. 404-378-7166. www.wordsmithsbooks.com. (Mosi Reeves)
Fonzworth appeared on Fox 5 Atlanta Thursday AM.
Is there a test for how much "metrosexual" is hiding in there?
A name change might help also. Most of us don't have a fancy name like Fonzworth Bentley. His given name, Derek Watkins, was not so impressive, so he just changed it, adopting the last name of an expensive car, and a first name including "Fonz" (of Happy Days fame).
