for a three-set victory at No. 4 singles to seal a 4-3 win for No. 13
Clemson (9-2, 1-0 ACC) against No. 6 Georgia Tech (8-4, 0-1 ACC)
Saturday afternoon on the indoor courts of the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center
on the campus of Clemson University.
The sixth-ranked Georgia Tech women's tennis team will begin defending
their Atlantic Coast Conference title this weekend when they travel to
Clemson to take on the Tigers in the first ACC match of the season for
both teams. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. (a change from
previously-printed schedules) at the Hoke A. Sloan Tennis Center on the
campus of Clemson University.
The No. 12 Georgia women’s tennis team is
set for a match with in-state rival and 6th-ranked Georgia Tech on
Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Georgia holds the 15-2 all-time series advantage over Georgia Tech.
However, both of those wins for the Yellow Jackets have come in the
past two contests. They won in Atlanta last year (6-1) and in Athens
the year before (4-3).
Shelton, 41, in his eighth
year here, is the hottest coach going on The Flats. The Tech women's
tennis team has won its only ACC titles the past two seasons, has made
its only NCAA tournament appearances during his watch and now is ranked third nationally.
Led by the strong play of Catherine Newman, the 25th-ranked Vanderbilt
women's tennis team handed Georgia Tech (7-2) just their second loss of
the season, defeating the Yellow Jackets, 5-2, at the Brownlee O.

The No. 3 Georgia Tech women's tennis team breezed to a 7-0 victory
over No. 68 Auburn Saturday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
The Yellow Jackets improved their record to 7-1 on the season while
Auburn dropped to 3-2.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to Nashville to face 12th-ranked Vanderbilt Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

its home schedule with a match against No. 68 Auburn (3-1) this

for the Kennesaw State Softball Invitational, Feb. 17-18. The Yellow
Jackets will face Georgetown and Miami University on Saturday and
Evansville and Kennesaw State on Sunday at Owl Field. [GTAA]
EVANSTON, Ill. - After the Yellow Jackets dropped the doubles point,
Amanda Craddock, Christy Striplin, Kristi Miller and Alison Silverio
each won singles matches to lead No. 1 Georgia Tech (6-1) to a 4-3
victory over No. 6 Northwestern (5-2) Monday night at the Combe Indoor
Tennis Center on the campus of Northwestern University.
The win over Northwestern was the Yellow Jackets' first after
entering the match with an 0-3 mark against the team that ended their
run in the 2006 NCAA Tournament.
Five Yellow Jackets earned straight-set singles wins, and Georgia Tech
(5-1) swept all three doubles matches to earn a 7-0 victory over
Illinois (2-5) Sunday at the Atkins Tennis Center on the campus of the
University of Illinois.
Katarina Zoricic pulled off the decisive victory Saturday as the
William and Mary women's tennis team upset top-ranked Georgia Tech 4-3
in an early-season dual match on the University of Illinois' indoor
hard courts.
