Senior Alison Silverio recorded wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles to lead the sixth-ranked Georgia Tech women's tennis team to its eighth straight Atlantic Coast Conference victory with a 6-1 win at No. 45 NC State Sunday.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 17-4 overall and 8-1 in the ACC and stand tied with Clemson, also 8-1 in the ACC, atop the league standings heading into the final weekend of conference play.

Softball: Junior Savannah Brown went 3-for-3, with a school record three home runs (12) and drove in six runs, and junior Whitney Humphreys (15-5) tossed her 10th complete game of the season, throwing 6.0 strong innings, allowing just two hits, one run and struck out five, to lead No. 24 Georgia Tech (35-13, 5-6 ACC) to a split with Florida State (28-18, 6-5 ACC), 0-8 and 9-1 (6), on Saturday at Glenn Field. Savannah Brown smashed three home runs in nightcap to set a new school record. [GT AA]

Women's Tennis: Amanda Craddock cruised to a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles to lead No. 6 Georgia Tech (16-4, 7-1 ACC) to a 5-2 win over No. 15 Wake Forest (12-5, 6-3 ACC) Saturday afternoon at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center. The victory extends the Yellow Jackets' ACC winning streak to seven-straight matches after beginning the season with a loss at Clemson. The Jackets and Tigers are currently tied for first place in the ACC standings. [GT AA]

Men's tennis: The Georgia Tech men's team fell to 11th-ranked Wake Forest, 5-1 Saturday in their last home match of the 2007 season. With the loss, the Jackets slip to 5-14 overall and 2-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Saturday's match with Wake marked the 12th time this season Tech has faced a team ranked among the nation's top 20. The Jackets, battling injury, were forced to forfeit the No. 6 singles match which gave the Deacs a 5-1 final score. [GT AA]

Volleyball: The Georgia Tech volleyball team hosted the ACC/SEC Challenge this weekend, as four members from each conference participate in a battle between the top two leagues in the southeast. Results were not yet available as of this posting.

Men's tennis, Softball, and Volleyball are all playing in town today, while Women's Tennis is in NC.

The Georgia Tech men's tennis team battled with the 20th-ranked Wolfpack, but came up short, falling 4-3 to NC State Friday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. With the loss, the Jackets slip to 5-13 overall and 2-6 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Yellow Jackets will face a tight turnaround as they prepare to host No. 11 Wake Forest Saturday at 2 p.m. in their last home match of the season. Live stats for Saturday's match with the Demon Deacons are available at Georgia Tech's athletic website, www.ramblinwreck.com.

The 24th-ranked Georgia Tech softball team (34-12, 4-5 ACC) will host Florida State (27-17, 5-4) in an Atlantic Coast Conference match-up this Saturday-Sunday, April 7-8. The Yellow Jackets and Seminoles will play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Easter Sunday, both days starting at 1 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets trail the Seminoles in the all-time series 11-39, but have won five of last nine games against FSU.

Senior utility player Kristina Hull was named as one of 20 of the top NCAA softball student-athletes for the 2007 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in the all-new softball division, announced on Friday. [GT AA]

The Georgia Tech volleyball team will host the ACC/SEC Challenge this weekend, as four members from each conference participate in a battle between the top two leagues in the southeast.

Matches will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and conclude with the featured match of the day, Georgia Tech vs. Alabama, at 5:30 p.m. Admission for all matches is free, and t-shirts will be given away to the first 200 fans in attendance.

Joining the Yellow Jackets from the Atlantic Coast Conference will be Duke, Florida State and Virginia, all of which finished in the top five in the league last season, and they will be facing Auburn and NCAA Tournament participants Alabama, Ole Miss and Tennessee from the Southeastern Conference.

Amanda McDowell earned a three-set victory after dropping her first set to lead No. 7 Georgia Tech (14-4, 5-1 ACC) to a 4-3 win over No. 13 North Carolina (16-6, 4-2 ACC) Saturday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. The Yellow Jackets will now turn their attention to 20th-ranked Duke, with the two teams squaring off Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center in Georgia Tech's final home ACC match of the season. Georgia Tech's Joseph remains in the candidate pool for the Washington women's basketball coaching job. Yellow Jackets athletic director Dan Radakovich confirmed Thursday the Huskies had contacted him for permission to speak with Joseph and permission had been granted. [Seattle P-I]

Georgia Tech's seventh-ranked women's tennis team will host its final Atlantic Coast Conference matches of the season this weekend, facing No. 13 North Carolina Saturday and No. 20 Duke Sunday. [GT AA]

  The Georgia Tech men's tennis team (5-10, 2-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) earned it's lone point with a win from Junior Scott Blackmon, playing in the sixth singles spot, but fell, 6-1, to No. 17 Duke at the Bill Moore Tennis Center on Sunday. [GT AA]

NC State's Abbie Sims (13-4) picked up her first win against Georgia Tech, tossing 5.1 strong innings, allowing five hits and no earned runs, and hit two home runs in the game to lead the 23rd-ranked Wolfpack to a 9-6 win over the 20th-ranked Yellow Jackets in the final game of an Atlantic Coast Conference softball series on Sunday at Glenn Field.
