Saban takes Collins, LSU eyes D-Rad

Tech director of player personnel operations Geoff Collins, a Conyers native who helped recruiting coordinator Giff Smith and head coach Chan Gailey revamp the way the staff goes about recruiting, has taken a position at Alabama. A replacement has not been named for Collins, who returned to Tech for 2006 after serving as a graduate assistant and then tight ends coach from 1999-2001.

Georgia Tech athletics director Dan Radakovich said he has not been contacted by LSU officials about becoming the Tigers' next AD, but he may be a candidate for the job a year from now.

LSU AD steps down, recommends GT's AD

Georgia Tech athletics director Dan Radakovich would make a great LSU athletic director, present LSU athletic director Skip Bertman said Thursday at a press conference in which he announced he would step down from that post on June 30, 2008, and proceed to an athletic director emeritus position of fund raising for two years through 2010.

LSU chancellor Sean O'Keefe, who will lead the athletic director search, worked with Radakovich over the last year of Radakovich's tenure at LSU, particularly in the post-Hurricane Katrina period in the fall of 2005 when LSU became a relief center. O'Keefe did not eliminate nor say Radakovich was a favorite for the job.

Shortstop Michael Fisher helps Hillside Home

Shortstop Michael Fisher hopes the GT SAAB's most recent community service project is the first of many with the Hillside Foster Home.

Fisher had the pleasure of picking up more than $900 in Target gift-cards to go along with 75 toys and gifts that he and other Georgia Tech student-athletes had collected during the semester's three Toy Drives earlier in the fall.

"I knew that we were trying to find a project that didn't completely involve physical labor, like our normal large event of Team BUZZ. So that and the idea of having a positive influence on the lives of children are the two things that made me really want to take action with the project."

GT S-As play Santa for foster care home

With three days remaining in Georgia Tech's fall semester final exams week, 13 student-athletes took study breaks Tuesday evening to spend time at the Hillside Foster Care Home, delivering over $900 in gift cards and more than 75 toys to over 70 kids that live on the campus.
