Jeff @ Ramblin Racket has initiated a GT Bloggers' Roundtable, in which a blogger asks a series of questions, and he and the other GT bloggers post answers to them on their blogs.
Scott @ GT Sports Blog has kicked it off , and is linking to answer answering posts.
WR will participate in these as time is found, and value can be added.

"Apparently the bright minds over at Georgia Tech couldn't think of a better mascot than a yellow jacket. Sure, yellow jackets are annoying when they ruin a perfectly good picnic, and they are capable of killing (but only those with wimpy allergies), but I still can't help but laugh when I see this creature with albino eyes and scrawny legs."

The article is good for a laugh or two.

Brushback.com thinks GT might have a pro-Duke bias:
DURHAM, NC--Days after dropping a 71-62 contest to the Duke Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are facing accusations from around the ACC that they have a pro-Duke bias.
“Do I feel like they Yellow Jackets have a pro-Duke bias? Yes, I do,” said Maryland forward James Gist. “They go into Cameron, they take on a Duke team that's been floundering, and they lose the game. They’re not even trying to hide it! It’s bad enough that the referees are engaged in this thing, but if the teams can’t stand up to Duke we’re really in trouble. I hope those guys are proud of themselves, because they just showed that they’re Coach K’s bitches, just like everyone else in this conference.”
Tech coach Paul Hewitt denied being part of any conspiracy and insisted that his team just "kind of blows” on the road.

GTAA has sent out information on the "TECH FUND" to AT contributors, in addition to articles in the Atlanta paper. DRad also discussed it in Good Word #23 on 08FEB07:
As you familiarize yourself with the program, please let me clarify a couple of points that may have been portrayed inaccurately in news reports. First, the TECH Fund contribution is in place of, NOT IN ADDITION TO, annual donations to the Alexander-Tharpe Fund. For many of you who are already giving to A-T, this is simply a change in the way that you will make your annual contribution.
[Dan Radakovich, GTAA, 08FEB07]
The buzz continues among GT fans.
"Bustinloose" spoke to DRad about the PSLs and reseating last week. His report is in the continuation. Perhaps most significant:
We are doing a "defacto" reseating. If you want to move up -based on seat availability in POINT (AT FUND) order, you can do so. However - NO one with more points can displace you if you want to keep your current seats and pay the fee.

Faced with what he calls
an "eroding" financial situation in his department, Georgia Tech
athletics director Dan Radakovich today will announce a plan to bring
in more money from football and basketball season-ticket sales. The plan, to be outlined in a letter to season-ticket holders, will
require a minimum annual donation to a new "Tech Fund" for the right to
buy prime season tickets. The required donation, which is in addition
to the face price of tickets, will be as high as $450 per seat per year
for football and up to $500 per seat per year for men's basketball. Tech's athletics department also will try to improve its financial
performance in other ways, including a pending increase in the student
athletics fee and a reduction in staff through attrition, Radakovich
said Monday in an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

It just didn't seem possible that the Big East football conference was going to survive after Miami and Virginia Tech picked up and headed for the ACC in 2004.
Now it's time to second-guess those who thought Tranghese had lost his mind. All he did was swiftly but carefully look for teams that would not only bolster the league in football but in basketball, too.
The Big East sent five of its eight teams to bowls and finished 5-0, highlighted by Louisville's 24-13 win over ACC champion Wake Forest in the Orange Bowl and West Virginia's 38-35 Gator Bowl victory over Georgia Tech, another ACC team.
The ACC sent eight of its 12 teams to bowls and finished 4-4. Its highest rated team in the final AP poll was No.17 Wake Forest, which finished five spots behind Rutgers, seven behind West Virginia and 11 behind Louisville.
They've earned the right to brag. They won all their bowls, while the ACC only broke even.
Nine Atlantic Coast Conference schools made the
top 50 of the final fall standings for the U.S. Sports Academy
Directors Cup.
Duke was third behind California and Stanford. Virginia
(7), Wake Forest (8), Maryland (17), North Carolina (20), Florida State
(22) and Clemson (24) each finished among the top 25. Boston College
(33) and Virginia Tech (33) made the top-50 cut, followed by N.C. State
(68), Miami (tied, 115) and Georgia Tech (tied, 124)
[RB, Tally Dem, 27JAN07]
This is primarily due to GT's limited number of AA-supported sports. It would be interesting to see how it compares with other ACC schools in the sports GT supports.
The final standings are compiled after the spring sports are added.

.. witnesses Monday before the
Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics claimed that
external pressures are warping the recruiting process, damaging the
psyches of 17-year-old high school athletes and corrupting parents and
coaches. They said this has helped create a generation of players and
parents who covet the sites' five-star and four-star ratings. High
school coaches are pressured by parents to turn out these highly ranked
players, and college coaches are pressured by boosters to sign them.
Web sites such as
Rivals.com and Scout.com have become gospel for millions of fans who
follow recruiting nearly as fervently as they follow the actual college
football season, witnesses told the commission.

See the continuation for some second-hand information on how the TECH FUND (which amounts to a seat tax on virtually every season ticket) will work.
22JAN07 UPDATE: In a reply to "RamblinRick" (see continuation), D-Rad says only 18,700 seats will "carry a donation" (meaning require a PSL).
Many fans are saying they are already at their budget for GT spending and giving, and will either buy less tickets or none at all if this is implemented, so it could result in LESS income for GTAA, which is already in the red (on a full accounting basis with $4.5Mil depreciation charge is included).
