GT vs UNLV preview, 15MAR07
Returning to the NCAA tournament for the third time four years, the Yellow Jackets (20-11) left Wednesday night for Chicago, where they will play UNLV (28-6) on Friday.
The Runnin' Rebels, led by former Atlanta Hawks coach Lon Kruger, aren't afraid to shoot. UNLV has won 14 of its 18 games when taking more 3-pointers than opponents, including a 3-0 run last week in which the team combined for 29 to win the Mountain West Conference tournament.

Georgia Tech's Jeremis Smith wants to take some of the madness out of his team's March.
He would rather not be involved in the last-second nail-biters that make the NCAA Tournament a viewer's delight. With the Yellow Jackets' history, avoiding close games is their best chance to advance, he admits.
Georgia Tech's only wins in games decided by six points or less came against Penn State and Florida State, and they were in control of both those games before the Nittany Lions and Seminoles made late runs.

GEORGIA TECH (10)
Best case: Freshmen Javaris Crittenton and Thaddeus Young combine to
average 40 points per game in three straight Tech upsets, taking their
team to the regional finals. People remember why they were so impressed
with coach Paul Hewitt three years ago when he took the Yellow Jackets
to the national championship game.
Worst case: Team that went 3-10 away from Alexander Coliseum resurfaces in Chicago, plays casual defense and loses by 15 to UNLV. People go back to assuming that Hewitt is an OK coach who had one lucky run in '04.
