Jew here,

I've been verbally abused as to why I haven't been blogging, so here goes a summary of the past year.  Red, you better get your red-headed you know what on the bandwagon.  The least you can do is blog French Laundry - a week from now we will be sitting in ecstasy as we eat who knows what, costing who cares what in Thomas Keller's famous joint. 

As far as local restaurants...been to Parkers twice now and had takeout once.  Go for the pork chop.  It comes with collard greens and mashed sweet potatoes for $17-it's a good deal and Jew loves the deals!  While I'm sure it's a great atmosphere around the fire (winter is over - hopefully now), check out the bar - great service!!!  There's a big screen TV too, so you can watch March Madness, Braves, Yankees (go YANKS!), or whatever.  The steak is okay, but not the best I've had.  However, the truffle mac and cheese is awesome.  Take advantage of the Savvy Shoppers coupons for an extra several bucks off of the tab.

Zucca-it's got great thin crust pizza and has won several awards.  However, since I'm a NY Jew, I am VERY picky when it comes to pizza.  I love that this place has it's own TVs in the booths and I'm sure it's a perfect place to watch sports, but it's pricey.  I am still a Fritti fan for thin crust (Shorty's is good too).  I must admit, I can spend hours on the shuffleboard table in the back - been there, done that!  It's a great addition to Decatur and will definately be back.

Eurasia is still excellent and I hope business is well....it's hard to get there as often as I want to during these times.

Grange-went to eat and a beer during their first weekend open.  Hopefully, the food got better (Shepards Pie tasted like a frozen dinner).  I went again for St. Patty's day brew - great black and tan and fun atmosphere. 

Brick Store-I was lucky enough to be working in Decatur that day and made it in time to score a table around 5:30 on St. Patty's day.  The Guinness was poured perfectly.  Great Irish cheese selection and the Irish stews were fine.

Leon's - scored a table early on V'Day-first weekend open.  Had the pork osso buco, several apps (calamari, frites, stuffed pepperdelles (sp?)), mussels and several beers and cocktails.  Played bocce ball with a well-mixed Hendricks and Tonic for dessert.   Second trip there, just cocktails and beer during the thundersnow day.  Ran into famous in Decatur blogger and had a snowball fight-good fun.

I'm saving the best for last...BPH aka Brockett Pub House - no, no one is paying me.  If you want great food (check out new menu) and great cocktails ( One is G's Hypnotiq Hypnosis), check it out.  Don't miss the crab cakes this Wednesday.  I know it has to be good, the owner is from MA and he makes a mean baked stuffed lobster!  If they have that special night again - don't walk, don't run, DIAL and  make reservations quick!  The regular menu has a great variety (healthy salads, wraps, burgers, wings, dawgs) and there's always a special of the day.  Don't miss FREE beer tasting on Saturdays (3pm).

Also, I hear Corner Pub is changing their menu soon too - I always liked their menu, but don't get to be in town enough to eat there.  However, the beers are nice and icy cold and it's the perfect time of year to have a pint, good grub on the sunny patio.

Now it's time for Red to get writing.  I'm off to Houston tomorrow and then Napa with Red and others...I'll be sure to give her a hard time.

It's about time you decided to dust off the menorahs. Have you been too cheap to dine out, or just plain slack? Where is Red?

Just because you are going to French Laundry this weekend, doesn't mean you are exempt from blogging a year!!
The question is..how many Red Heads and Menorahs will French Laundry receive?
