Anyone interested is invited to join us Tuesday at 7pm to formulate and organize the North East Decatur Garden Club.
Anyone is welcome to attend. Those living east of Clairemont and north of the railroad (in Decatur or beyond) will find it most convenient.
This will not be the traditional garden club, which focuses of flower gardening and landscaping. It will include that, but be ever more focused on urban gardening, where people grow healthy, organic foods.
Our first community garden will be a 25' x 75' plot which the Church at Decatur Heights has generously offered for our use. We'll be presenting plans showing 4x4 plots which members can adopt. Longer range plans include a Winn/Arcadia Garden. There are legal permission issues to be resolved before we can pursue that.
We will consider inviting expert speakers to our (presumably) monthly meetings.
This will be a non-profit organization with annually elected officials, including a treasurer. Legal mechanisms will be formalized, assuming there's significant interest.
We will brainstorm what activities this club should promote and how often it will meet.
Please join us.
