The Village Vets, a veterinary practice in downtown Decatur that was recently named one of metro Atlanta's "Best Vets" by Atlanta Magazine, has broken ground on a new state-of-the-art animal care facility. The practice will relocate to the new facility by Summer 2008.
The 11,500 square foot facility, to be located at 217 N. McDonough Street (directly across from Decatur High School), will feature the latest in medical and digital technology, expanded boarding facilities, and will be nearly three times the size of the current practice. In addition, it will have ample off-street parking.
In addition, due to the need for emergency after-hours animal care in the local area, a new practice, the Animal Emergency Clinic of Decatur (AECD), will also be opening in the new facility. AECD will provide emergency animal care on nights, weekends, and during all major holidays. Due to the immediate need for this type of service in the local area, AECD has recently begun operating on an interim basis in The Village Vets of Decatur’s existing location at 308 E. Howard Avenue in the downtown area.
The longstanding vet place in Decatur is Dearborn Animal Hospital on E. College, which was there even when this old blogger was a kid back in the 50s. It boards pets, including ones people turn in, and helps finds good homes for them.
