Flag raising at Trackside

The Trackside Tavern was founded in 1982. The owner, Doc Al, always flew a US flag above the front door. It burned just before daylight on Inauguration Day, 1/20/2009.  At a fund raiser for the staff at The Corner Pub, the Decatur Fire Department presented Doc Al with a new flag, and offered to install it after Trackside was rebuilt. It has been rebuilt from the ground up, and had a soft opening in July. The formal "Re-welcoming" was this weekend. As promised, members of the DFD (some of whom fought the fire and saved the benches and some irreplaceable memorabilia, were on had Sunday to install the new flag. It was a very touching ceremony, sharing the community spirit of Decatur.
