Mashable ("the Social Media Guide") holds meetups across the country. Last night, for the second straight year, Regator, a great Decatur-based blog curator service, hosted it.
This year it was at "le Fais do do" off Interstate 75, which was a pain to drive to from Decatur, but probably great for some others around Atlanta.
The space is a large ballroom area and a smaller gallery area which is rented out for events. The ballroom was packed with people. Somebody posted an image of the line outside shortly after 7 p.m., and said it was 200 long. Looks like I was wise to arrive around 8:30, when there was no line.
Colored light projections of sponsor names gave it a high tech look:
Chris, Kimberly, and Scott of Regator announced the prize winners from a drawing of business cards. Thomas Wheatley (of CL fame) won some speakers.
Some interesting sponsoring vendors were on vendor row:
The real value of these meetups is to make connections with other innovators and exchange business cards. I knew some of them already, and met a number of new ones. [As a rule, ladies seem to dress up more for these things more than guys, with some notable exceptions in both directions.]
Attendees had an opportunity to get their photo taken with Reggie, Regator's mascot:
There was also an after party party, but I was headed home shortly after 10 p.m.
