Congratulations to the DHS boys baseball team for winning Friday.

DHS beats Chattooga 58-43 in first round of AA Boys playoffs

Decatur won the first state playoff game it has ever hosted (to anybody's recollection) Friday night.

District 42

In all likelihood, residents of District 42 will be electing a replacement for State Senator David Adelman, whom President Obama has appointed Ambassador to Singapore.

Do you know what areas are included in District 42?

This map was found on David Montane's site. I highlighted incorporated Decatur.

This is a tough district, which includes a wide variety of ethic concentrations.

 

Libertarian candidate David Montane meets supporters at the Marlay House

Assuming David Adelman is appointed Ambassador to Singapore, a replacement will be needed for Georgia State Senator from District 42, which is primarily central DeKalb.

David Montané is running as a member of the Libertarian Party of Georgia. 

He met with supporters Thursday night, 2/25/2010, at the Marlay House (formerly the Grange Public House) in Decatur, GA. He's the one wearing the coat in the image below.

I found him to be a very personable guy. He was originally from LA, but now lives with his wife and dog off Katy Kerr Road.

His announced opponents are Jason Carter and Tom Stubbs.

DHS hosts first state boys basketball playoff tonight

Hello everyone,

Just a note to let everyone know that our Decatur High School Boys Basketball Team will be participating in the State Playoffs starting tomorrow, Friday, February 26, 2010.  We will be playing Chattooga High in the First Round beginning at 6:30PM in our new Gym (unofficially, it's called "The Spike"; however, I prefer calling it "The Decatur Gem")

 

To my knowledge, this is the very first time that Decatur High School has hosted a GHSA State Basketball Playoff Game and will be a historic event.  If anyone who receives this e-mail has any information to the contrary, please let me know......hope to see some of you there.

Scott Peacock leaving Watershed

Atlanta foodies are all atweeter about this news:

My chef friend Scott Peacock called today to confirm that he has resigned from the Watershed restaurant in Atlanta to pursue new projects.

Scott had been with Watershed for 11 years, during which the restaurant become known for its interpretations of Southern food, including fried chicken, which regularly sells out on Tuesday nights, the only night it is available. Last week, the James Beard Foundation named him a semi-finalist in the Outstanding Chef category, a nationwide award.

Jason Carter meets and greets in Oakhurst

Jason Carter, the son of Jack, grandson of President Jimmy Carter and candidate for State Senator from District 42 (to replace David Adelman, who is expected to be confirmed as Ambassador to Singapore) has MANY "meet and greets" scheduled. The one at the Oakhurst home of Kyle and Larry was the eighth.

A good crowd listened to a lengthy ad hoc speech. Several attendees asked some challenging questions which didn't have easy answers, leading to lengthy wandering responses.

Since Jason grew up in Calhoun, he's very aware of the two Georgias: Metro Atlanta and the rest of the state. He recognizes the different needs of other Georgia cities and rural areas. He was rather critical of what he considers a lack of leadership and an unwillingness to take responsibility among the incumbents.

A video with his actual words will be added later tonight or tomorrow.

Jason's sees his strongest competition as Tom Stubbs.

 The entertainment was provided by Tanner the dog, who would occasionally bark loudly at arrivals, and could beg for snacks like a consumate politician. Wish I'd taken a picture of his eyes, which made it look like you'd both have great fun if you'd just give him some ham. Like a true politician, he was my best friend when I was standing near the snack table, but completely ignored me otherwise.

inDECATUR is neutral (at least for the present), but I want to be very complimentary on the beverages and snacks.

It's time to meet David Montané! The Libertarian Candidate for State Senate District 42 will be at The Marley House in Decatur next Thursday night, 25 FEB 10, starting at 7PM. We urge all liberty minded individuals in Decatur to attend and meet the man himself. 

Marley house is located at 426 West Ponce de Leon Ave in the heart of Decatur, right next to the Decatur Post Office. Old school Decatur Libertarians will recall with some fondness the annual income tax protest day at the Decatur Post Office along with some of the salty comments we used get there from other Decatur residents. Ah, the joys of exercising your first Amendment rights.
