In the Comer's home town of Rathfarnham in Ireland, a man had bought a house called the Grange and renamed it the Marlay House for his wife. 1972 when it was donated to the Dublin County Council. A park around it is now known a Marlay Park.
Three people did the research and came up with the name, so they split the $500 in house cash equally.
Much more on this (including shots of the packed crowd and a video mentioning other suggested names, will be posted in the morning, so please check back.
Sunday afternoon update: Colin Comer explains the power of the name to the AJC's John Kessler:
The full name is the Marlay House, which refers to a famous 18th Century Georgian-style mansion on the outskirts of Dublin. Why reference this building?
“Because it was called the Grange before that,” says Colin Comer. “Then this French fellow [David La Touche, governor of the Bank of Ireland] bought it and changed the name of the Grange to the Marley House for his wife. But it’s the same place. That’s what we are — the same place.”
