From the DPD:
During the early morning hours of Thursday, June 25, 2009 members of the Decatur Police Department Patrol Division arrested an individual for two incidents of entering auto. While on patrol Sergeant Dana Canipe observed a male walking on Scott Boulevard. Sgt. Canipe stopped and spoke with the male who stated he was enroute to a friend's home. A few minutes later Sgt. Canipe drove through the area again and could not locate the male. Sgt. Canipe began searching the area to locate the male when she heard a car alarm. She immediately responded to the alarm, but found no evidence of tampering. She continued to search the area and located two vehicles with broken windows. Sgt. Canipe alerted other officers and gave a description of the male she had spoken with a short time earlier. Officer Amy Hall located the individual and property from the entering autos were located in close proximity to the male. The male was arrested and charged with two counts of Entering Auto and Possession of tools for the commission of a crime. Investigation into the male's possible involvement in recent similar crimes is continuing.
