Here's an idea local high schools might consider for near Veterans Day, before those serving in WWII and Korea die out or become too feeble to participate.
One of my older cousins, who served in Korea, sent me photos of Vets speaking to high students at Kenai High in Alaska, along with this note:
" ...on May 5th, I joined Herb's group of veterans at
said KCHS, it seems Herb had been contacted by a history teacher and asked to
get a group of veterans to talk to the students. I think they were mostly
seniors(?) and were very interested in our stories. The teacher had setup eight
tables and had a veteran sit at each table, she then brought in a group of
students that split-up going to each of the eight tables for about 8
minutes or so and then on her signal they all rotated to another table. This
went on from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM with an hour out for lunch, we were busy. The
teacher had it well organized and It all went well I think it was good for
the students and us also."
