Chinese language/culture to be taught near Decatur

Partnering with China’s Nanjing University and the Atlanta Public School System, Emory University has helped to establish the Confucius Institute of Atlanta, a program promoting Chinese language and culture in the Atlanta schools and community, at Sammye E. Coan Middle School near Decatur. This is the first time a K-12 Chinese curriculum will be introduced in Atlanta schools.

There are currently over 200 Confucius Institutes across the globe — 40 in the United States and now one in Georgia. The institute will serve as a focal point for Chinese teacher training, language instruction for students and public and community cultural events.
