The trail in Medlock Park – both the boardwalk and the concrete – seem to be completed and open to the public. In other words, you can walk or bike from the parking lot to Willivee Drive. In addition, a second stop sign was added to the northbound side of Willivee -- on the more visible left hand side.
The PATH foundation is now working on the boardwalk segment in Mason Mill park. The entire trail is scheduled to be completed in about 30 days.

An acquaintance tells me the trail is paved from the old bridge in Mason Mill Park to the gulch, over which a wood bridge will be constructed.
inDECATUR will do a photo shoot when it's completed.

Thanks, Jack!
I've been "meaning" to get over and take photos, but haven't got around to it.
You've done it for me.
I'm sure those interested will appreciate the photos.

This project is getting more interesting every day. Brad Lawley sent me a 1940s picture of the Decatur Water Works (built in 1907).
This explains what the 'strange artifacts' were in my photos near the Old Bridge -excepr one, the pillar of stones. It would be a nice addition to the above page to add this and other artifact information to the above page. I plan to record as many artifact GPS locations I can find and add them to the old photo -which I've converted into a GPS map to show our recorded tracks.
It's interesting that Decatur had to rely on such a small creek for its water! This is understandable, since Decatur sits practically on top of the Eastern Continental Divide where there are bo streams whatever.

I don't see your link to the photo, Jack, but it's probably the one I scanned last year. It's posted in an earlier post here at inDECATUR in early November 2007:

I've also posted extensive maps showing the continental divide passing through Decatur.
Enter Mason Mill in the searchbar in the sidebar and you'll retrieve links to MULTIPLE posts on these subjects.
inDECATUR has been following this for some time.

I'd be very interested in seeing your maps of the ECD in Decatur, and perhaps add them to my 'ECD in Georgia' page.

With help from Brad Lawley, I've extended my web page of Phase 1 of
the Path Foundation path from the Medlock to Masosn Mill parks to include the old Decatur Waterworks:
http://gpsinformation.info/Jack/Medlock/MedlockPath.html
Here I've tried to match items on a sketch and an old aerial
photo of the waterworks to some 'interesting' photos of the grounds.
It's easy to access the ruins, they just aren't visible to the
average hiker.

Great work, Jack! I'll do a new post linking to your site tonight or in the AM. Thanks!

More discoveries!
The Path site map shows an "Access" road, so we dicided to try to
find it. Sure enough it's there and one can easily walk on it.
I've added a few pictures and maps as how to get there in:

Good work, Jack! Yeah, that access road was cut to build the PATH.
