The race is 100 yards down the hill to touch the dumpster on the left, then back uphill to the starting line. Jeremy is the starter and timer. Chrissy is the photographer. Aaron is the downhill traffic guard.

Jeremy (yellow shirt) is standing at the finish line. Gregory has just crossed it. Dave is at his maximum possible closing speed.
Gregory (21) beat "Dumpster Dave" (62.5) by about 2.5 seconds in a running of the Dumpster Dash Thursday evening, 5/22/08. Gregory's official time was 33.5 seconds, well off the record of 27.5 seconds set by 32-year-old Tate in 92-degree heat last summer.
Gregory played football in basketball in HS and is now preparing to join the Navy. His comment on beating a guy almost 3 times his age by 2.5 seconds: "I've got to get in better shape."
See the embedded video of the race in the continuation, if interested.
Here's the video (filmed very well by Chrissy):
The family to the left in the video is Chip and Claudia, and their younger Daugher Heidi, who happens to have been born on the same day as the starter/timer Jeremy's daughter Nora. They recently adopted "DD" the dog from Aaron & Chrissy, who were giving him a foster home. DD has shown strong protective instincts for Heidi, blocking her from a possible fall at least twice.
Heidi and Nora
Chip and Claudia say they will each run in future "Dumpster Dash" races.
A number of women, including the wife of the CP owner, Bethy, have said they will run, many times, over a number of years, in some cases. They always have excuses as to why they can't run on any given Tuesday or Thursday, such as "I don't have my running shoes today." Only 2 women have actually run. One stopped after touching the dumpster. The next stopped about 20-30 yards from the finish line. A woman has yet to cross the finish line in the Dumpster Dash, but we're still hopeful. Maybe when Heidi and Nora grow up, women will be as ready to compete as men.
