McCain-Palin continues to make gains in EV projections

Demoncratic Convention Watch doesn't like the trend in the Electoral College:

The state polls rolled in this week,and the results are pretty ugly. Obama leads 281-257, an decrease of a big 13 EVs from our last forecast. Movement across the board for McCain, and 3 projections now show Obama at 269 or less.

Rasmussen: Obama lead in EVs down to 17

With the Montana shift, the latest numbers from the Rasmussen Reports Balance of Power Calculator show Obama leading in states with 193 Electoral College votes and McCain ahead in states with 186 Electoral College votes. When “leaners” are included, it’s Obama 264, McCain 247.

Currently, states with 132 Electoral College votes are leaning slightly in one way or the other, and three states with a total of 27 votes -- Colorado, Nevada and Virginia -- are pure toss-ups.

EV projections vary widely, and are volatile.

Florida and Virginia, with their 27 and 13 EVs respectively, are the key battleground states in the Southeast. McCain is finally advertising in Florida.

McCain gaining on electoral college map

Obama still has a lead on the electoral college map, but McCain is gaining. A couple of weeks ago, pollster.com was giving Obama 270.
