FOOTBALL
This blogger has no dog in this fight, and will just enjoy the game and hope to win some bucks with his "Stupidbowl" blocks (which require absolutely no knowledge of football.
Judging from HR-1034, who'd be surprised if the GA House passes some resolution about the quality of officiating in the Super Bowl.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle has heard Atlanta has the inside track for the College Football Hall of Fame, which is not getting the desired attendance in South Bend. Duh!
Long before there was a Super Bowl, there were Westerns. The Impolitic does a great job of summarizing them.
ENERGY
Residential Ga Power customers can purchase 100-kilowatt-hour blocks of
Green Energy for $4.50 per block, which is added to their monthly
electricity bill. The majority of the electricity Georgia Power purchases for
the program comes from a methane gas landfill facility in DeKalb
County, southeast of Atlanta. GOVERNMENT A GA bill (SB 71) stipulating
that special option tax elections may only be held on primaries and
general election dates easily passed the Senate in the 2007 session. It
got hung up in the House in the closing days. The bill can be
reconsidered this session. [MK|AJC|2008FEB03] Decatur & DeKalb are guilty of scheduling bond/SPLOST votes away from general elections. While many public and private pools are trying to get variances to fill and top off their pools this summer, the Avondale Pool is all set. It dug a 140-foot deep well down into a known acquifer, and will have plenty of water (unless well usage is restricted). PARKS & RECREATION If you agree, please sign the Jekyll Island petition POLITICS The Democrats (inlcuding the Young DeKalb Dems] are gathering at the Amsterdam Bar to view the election results. [Kos] Governor Romney will be at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, 800 Spring
Street, Atlanta at 12:00 Noon Monday. [Georgians for Romney] Fifty members of the Georgia Legislature endorsed Gov. Mitt Romney for President at a media event
this week. “We tend to know what the people want, and very clearly from
that press conference it was a strong statement,” Georgia Speaker Pro Temp Mark Burkhalter Burkhalter said. “We
need an economy President, and if you vote against tax cuts (as McCain
did) you voted for a tax increase as far as I’m concerned.” How many more Americans will watch the Super Bowl tonight as compared to the election results at 11PM Tuesday night? If you didn't take advantage of early voting this past week, get out and vote Tuesday.
