Dismembered body ID'd as Decatur woman
The dismembered body of a woman found in Newton County Oct. 30 was identified as 49-year-old Leslyan Williams of Decatur*, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said on Sunday.
The Newton County Sheriff's Office arrested her boyfriend, Franklin Benson, 47 [see his mug shot at 11Alive link], and accused him of murder. Benson was being held in the county jail.
Authorities said Sunday that Williams' head and torso are still missing. They said she was identified through fingerprints.
Body parts of the missing woman were found after a woman in Covington notified authorities that her dog had brought a human severed foot to her home and she initially thought it was an early Halloween prank.
The foot was found in a heavily wooded, sparsely populated portion of Newton County off of Georgia Highway 212.
