Stone Mountain woman shot by drive-by

A DeKalb County woman was seriously hurt when a bullet pierced her kitchen window and struck her in the upper body Wednesday night, police said.

The woman was inside the house in the 400 block of Derbyshire Drive in Stone Mountain when her 15-year-old daughter heard the sound of glass breaking and her mother scream, said county police Officer Marcus Hodge.

Residents in the area told police that they heard a shot and heard a car screeching away about 9 p.m., Hodge said.
