Water main break on Hillcrest

Hi Neighbors!

Please spread the word that there's a major emergency Public Works
project towards the end of Hillcrest Ave- broken water main, sewage
backup, the whole shebang. Beginning Monday morning, all neighbors on
that part of the street must move their vehicles elsewhere. The County
crews will work 24/7 until it's fixed. Neighbors on nearby streets
will see an increase in parked cars. Please show our Hillcrest
neighbors some love with a smile & understanding.

Hi Decatur Heights Neighbors!

  

The traffic calming & safety petitions signings and the Neighborhood Watch enrollment efforts have now started. Each household will be visited by a neighbor between now and November 30th. The petitions apply to the entire Decatur Heights map area. The Watch enrollment covers the blocks not currently participating. Both efforts require a high rate of participation from neighbors in order to meet Decatur's requirements to proceed. We hope that you'll join with neighbors on both! We'd also appreciate it if you'd share the news of the door-to-door campaign with your neighbors.

Young coyotes spotted

One of our neighbors submitted this to Decatur Metro:

While making a late night/ early morning (4am) run to the N. Decatur Rd CVS, I spotted 2 baby coyotes crossing Winn Way. They were leaving the rear of some homes in Sycamore Ridge and making their way over to the DeVry Campus.

Others have been spotted at Superior and N. Decatur.

"The meeting went well. 17 participated. We covered the agenda items, and now have a new neighborhood action plan. The petitions signing & Watch enrollment efforts are underway, and a group of neighbors (Cynthia, Tara, and Emily) will be working on the communications piece. The DHNA's status was brought up, and the consensus is that it needs to be reestablished. Soren spoke to the room and praised the PSWC on behalf of himself & Grace Ann. Jayme & Maureen, our neighbors from the Peer Center, were moved by it, as were the other neighbors present. It was really nice to experience the enthusiasm for bringing together the communities within Decatur Heights."

Newsbits:

*New tentative start date on Church Streetscape Project is Nov 25th. Approx. one month to complete. (Barring weather & unforeseen discoveries.)

 

*Radar sign is up & running- Thank you to Deputy Chief Lee! He knows how to kick off a Traffic & Safety/ Watch effort for sure!

 

* The 2nd youth on the recent Sycamore Dr car break-in has also been apprehended.(Both were out out of state runaways, I think.)
