What's The Firearm? 2007.11.22

What is this? (Hint: It's not for turkey hunting.)

Answer in continuation

It is the Styer HS 50.

Since it weighs 28 lbs., it's not likely the guy held that pose too long.

The rifle made headlines when Steyr sold up to 800 rifles to Iran in 2004. There was a large amount of concern in the United States, UK, and to a lesser extent, countries such as Denmark that the rifles would find their way into Iraq and be used against the New Iraqi Army or Coalition forces. (See the rest of the story at the link.) [A-C-E posted on this at the time.]

The image is from Confederate Yankee, in a post about the hysteria over .50 caliber firearms as terrorist weapons.
