Pistol with horizontal top feed

Marshall Arms, Inc. (Trenton, NJ) has developed a horizontal feed PDW using a magazine feed similar to the revolutionay FN P90, but using a traditional pistol grip and trigger guard. The one soon to be commercialized is a bullpup design, reducing muzzle rise. 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP will be offered.

Military/LE agencies will be able to order semi/select fire with a 50-round magazine. Civilians will be able to order a 3+Lb semi-auto with a 10-round magazine. A 5+Lb carbine is also planned.

Marshall Arms will also be selling a 5.56mm assault rifle using a horizontal magazine.

The designer is Walter S. Balsavage, Jr., a Vietnam vet with an interesting resume.

Compare to FN P90 magazine (surely any patent issues are resolved)

While this is not where Mr. Balsavage is headed, this design would allow semi-auto pistols for large rounds such as the 500 and 460 S&W which would make the grip in a traditional design pistol too large to be practical, which makes it of great interest to A-C-E, home of the BFH (Big Freakin Handgun). Believe it or not, an A-C-E post proposing such a design awaiting a sketch when this was stumbled upon at Brickmuppet.
