According to Global Security, Knights Armament's SASS (KAC catalog page) won a competition and was selected as a replacement for the M24 bolt-action sniper rifle on 28 SEP 2005. Defense Review reported this at the time. It carries the designation M110. Remington protested unsuccessfully.
