The AutoCopter is a self-stablized mini-helicopter. Patented neural network algorithms enable an inexperienced operator to control it. Or, it can be programmed for autonomous flight. See the pdf briefing at the Neural Robotics website.
With an 80cc engine, it has a payload of 15 lbs, sufficient for a camera for aerial surveillance. (A model with larger payload is under development.)
Add an AA-12 Auto Assault shotgun [capable of firing 20 rounds at 6 rounds per second with a circular magazine], and you've got an "autocopter gunship" (subject to governmental controls, of course). Testing continues.
Imagine an enemy sniper hearing something behind him and turning around to see a 12-gauge about to send him to his reward. Imagine dozens of these little devils swarming over a battlefield, loaded with FRAG-12 grenade rounds.
If interested, read David Crane's extensive writeup and download and view some video clips from the Neural Robotics site. Instructions for downloading a clip of the "AutoCopter Gunship" are at the Defense Review link above.
