Fox News reports:
The death benefit to survivors of troops killed in combat zones would jump nearly tenfold — from $12,000 to $100,000 — under an $82 billion spending package for Iraq and Afghanistan that is headed for final votes in the House and Senate.
Good move! It should be retroactive back to early 2003.
It could be argued there should be one amount for KIA in actual combat, and a lower one for accidents in theatre. Anytime there are 150K troops anywhere (stateside or in a war zone) there will statistically be a number of deaths as a result of accidents. But, on the other hand, they all accepted orders to go to war. What do you think?
