Is this the October Surprise?
1230Z SAT 16OCT04. Information Clearing House.
"As we speak, Washington is negotiating a highly secretive agreement with Beijing, the Chinese capital, for the eviction of bin Laden from his sanctuary in the turbulent Muslim provinces of China, in the Northwest of the Great Wall nation."
Sounds wild, but let's hope so, more for the good of (Wo)mankind than any political impact. Man, it feels great (like it did when Saddam was captured) just thinking about it!
As this map shows, only Tajikistan and northern Pakistan are between Afganistan and China. There's actually a narrow section of Afghanistan along the mountain range which borders China. Was that bin Laden's escape route?

According to some reports, he looks very different than this now

You might ask: Why would China turn the man over to the US if it did have him? Possibly in exchange for more liberal trade agreements. As a front page article in the Atlanta J-C on Sunday, 17OCT04 notes, the textile restrictions will be lifted at the end of the year:
"After Jan. 1, when federal limits on textile and apparel imports are scheduled to expire, China is poised to flood the U.S. market with cheap bluejeans, T-shirts and underwear."
I'm not sure the man is worth that, as that will all but KILL the already ailing textile industry in the US. DuPont, a global corporation which tends to stay a step ahead of the competition, has already sold off all but it's most profitable textile businesses, where it has proprietary fabrics or fibers eg. Kevlar. Wonder if Edwards, from NC which will hard hit, is saying Kerry has a miracle cure for that?
If you ask ACE:
I question the timing. (a favorite Dem expression). I can see Rove on the phone asking: "Would you mind holding him a couple more weeks? We'll meet your plane with our plane anywhere in the world on Halloween night, so we can give America and the World a great treat." But, maybe we should wait until 11/4, so it doesn't look like a "cheap political trick." [grin].
Imagine what Kerry will say if it does happen: I'm not that concerned about bin Laden, since somebody will just take his place and al Qaeda will live on. (This after he twisted Bush's comment about not being that concerned about the man.) And, no doubt, he would have negotiated the turnover MUCH SOONER.
I'd say it's just as likely bin Laden is in many pieces, in a body bag, or almost anywhere else in the world; but it's fun to watch the Leftist Moonbats worry about this.
Some (eg. this website - do a search and you'll find others) have conjectured President Bush KNOWS bin Laden is dead, but, to keep him from being a martyr, is not saying it (putting the good of the country and the world ahead of his own interests, as hard as that might be for leftists to believe, given the guy they support and Bill Clinton). They point to the fact that we've not seen bin Laden holding up a current publication in about three years. Perhaps his followers buried him quietly, keeping him "alive" for their benefit. There are almost unlimited possibilities.
While taking bin Laden into custoday would have more political impact, I'd personally rather capture/kill Zarqawi, who is doing more direct damage right now. Of course, the killing/capturing of BOTH + the securing of Falluja(h) would be EVEN BETTER!
